Japan is a bloodbath as the Shogun's forces respond to rebellion with the most ruthless of crackdowns. Milligan is once more pitched into the crucible of history, narrowly avoiding assassination and execution, befriending the most powerful man in Japan, behaving scandalously on more than one occasion in the Shogun's castle, joining the most bloodthirsty swordsmen in the country, breaking out of prison, and becoming an assassin. So much for a quiet life.
